Currency Conversion for Non-Euro Transactions (Applied Foreign Exchange Fees)
When you enjoy using your Prospero Card outside of the eurozone, in some payment points you might be given the option to either pay in local currency or in EUR. This is a functionality developed by MasterCard for your convenience so you have a choice.
If you choose to pay in EUR, the currency exchange will be done by the local merchant bank against a fee.
If you choose to pay in a local currency, the exchange will be done by MasterCard against a mark-up over current market rates. Also, after the successful transaction, Paymix.pro will be charging an additional 3% FX (foreign transaction) fee on the settled amount.
If you are using this service in EEA (European Economic Area) the applied total mark-up percentages over ECB (European Central Bank) reference rate, including fees, are as below:
Please note that a 3% FX fee will be reflected on your statement as a Transaction Fee, while the remaining of the cost will be reflected in the FX rate with the EUR transaction amount.
For any other currency
You could calculate the EUR equivalent of your transaction from MasterCard Rates by entering below:
Transaction Currency | choose the local currency of the merchant |
Amount | enter the purchase amount in local currency |
Your Card Currency | choose EUR as your card currency |
Bank Fee | enter 3% |
MasterCard settlements usually transpire at T+1, meaning the conversion will happen a day after your transaction with the rates applied accordingly, so the fee might be slightly different than the one shown at the time of the transaction.
